The video of “The Trial of Lili’uokalani” is now on sale in Hilo.

The historical drama about the overthrow of Hawaii’s last queen was performed in September by the Hilo Community Players (HCP) and recorded for DVD without an audience.

The disc is packaged with a copy of the original playbill and retails for $20.

It is available at Basically Books and Abundant Life on Kamehameha Avenue, at the Lyman Museum and the Palace Theater on Haili Street, at the East Hawaii Cultural Center-MOMA on Kalakaua Street and at Island Naturals in the Hilo Shopping Center.

“We sold out nearly every performance,” said producer, Hal Glatzer, secretary of the nonprofit HCP. “We added three extra shows, and still there were people who wanted to see it but couldn’t get tickets. This DVD is the only way to see it now.

“It’s ideal for sharing the experience with colleagues, friends and family, and makes a wonderful holiday gift.”
